The Asian College of Conservation Medicine (ACCM) — one of the AIVBS-recognised specialty colleges — and its founding body, the Asian Society of Conservation Medicine (ASCM), will hold the 19th ASCM Annual Conference in Bogor, Indonesia, from 18 to 23 October 2026.
The theme is Asia in Action: Partnerships and Innovation for Biodiversity Health. The conference is hosted jointly by ASCM, ASLIQEWAN (Asosiasi Dokter Hewan Satwa Liar, Akuatik dan Hewan Eksotik Indonesia) and Jeonbuk National University, and brings together wildlife veterinarians, pathologists, researchers and conservation practitioners from across Asia and beyond.

Pre-conference workshops — Sunday 18 October
Two full-day workshops run in parallel from 08.30 to 16.30, followed by an ice breaker at the Koersi Sky Cafe, Bigland Hotel Bogor, from 19.00.
- Conservation Pathology Workshop (Vocational School, IPB University) — trainers are Andreas Bandang Hardian (DVM, M.VSc, Brawijaya University, Indonesia), Dr Chia-da Hsu (DVM, M.Sc, Dipl. ACCM, Mandai Wildlife Group, Singapore) and Piyaporn Eiamcharoen (DVM, PhD, DACVP, Kasetsart University, Thailand).
- Wildlife Disease Outbreak Investigation Workshop (Bigland Hotel Bogor) — trainers are Lesa Thompson (MA, BVM, BVS, M.Sc, PhD, DZooMed, Dipl. ACCM, MRCVS, WOAH Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific), Steve Unwin (BSc, BVSc, DVM, Dipl. ECZM, MRCVS, Wildlife Health Australia / WOAH Collaborating Centre for Wildlife Health Risk Management) and Anuwat Wiratsudakul (DVM, MVPH, PhD, Mahidol University, Thailand / WOAH South East Asia Wildlife Health Network).
Scientific programme — 19–21 October
The main conference takes place in Medja Ballroom 1–2 at the Bigland Hotel Bogor, with abstract presentations running in parallel streams across all three days. The organisers have released the following as a tentative programme.
- Monday 19 October — Opening ceremony and an address by ASCM President Dr Manabu Onuma (DVM, PhD, Dipl. JCZWM, Dipl. ACCM), followed by the keynote “Cross-sector Partnership for Biodiversity Health in Indonesia and Beyond” by Ahmad Munawir (S.Hut, M.Sc, Directorate of Species and Genetic Conservation, Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia). Plenary sessions cover “From Crisis to Synergy: The Past and the Future of Rhino Conservation in Indonesia” (Dr Muhammad Agil, DVM, MSc.Agr, Dipl. ACCM, IPB University) and “Application of Biobank for Biodiversity Conservation: Opportunities and Future Direction” (Dr Manabu Onuma, National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan). The day closes with poster discussion and the conference dinner and raffle draw.
- Tuesday 20 October — A parallel session on “Avian Medicine” by Prof. Jae-Ik Han (DVM, MS, PhD, Dipl. ACCM, Jeonbuk National University, South Korea), and the plenary “Joint Approaches to Mitigate African Swine Fever Disease in Southeast Asia’s Endemic Wild Pig Species” by Ahmad Faisal (DVM, M.Res, Wildlife Conservation Society Indonesia). The day ends with the ASCM Networking Session, moderated by Serena Oh (BVM&S, MRCVS, Dipl. ACCM, Wildlife Asia Veterinary Services) and Lesa Thompson (Dipl. ACCM, WOAH Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific), covering ASCM’s current position, future partnership strategy and collaboration opportunities.
- Wednesday 21 October — Parallel sessions on “Collaborative Effort for Wildlife Conservation through Assisted Reproductive Technologies” (Ampika Thongphakdee, DVM, PhD, Zoological Park Organization of Thailand) and “Summit for Conservation Pathology Engagement” (Piyaporn Eiamcharoen, Kasetsart University), plus plenaries on “Non-human Primate Malaria: Challenge and Lesson Learned” (Dr Karmele Llano Sánchez, DVM, M.VSc, Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia) and “Rewilding the Shark in Raja Ampat: A Story of Multi-country Collaboration” (I Made Jaya Ratha, DVM, MSc, Thrive Conservation). The conference closes with the announcement of the host of the 20th ASCM Conference in 2027, the award ceremony and closing remarks from the ASCM President.
ACCM diplomas
The Asian College of Conservation Medicine was founded by ASCM in 2012 and is accredited by AIVBS. It awards a diploma certification in conservation medicine, and the current ACCM diplomas will be presented during the award ceremony on the closing afternoon of 21 October, alongside the awards for the best poster and best oral abstract presenters.
